Devon Turcotte, MA, Certified Career Strategist

It’s not uncommon for people to ask me, “how did you get into career coaching?” And my favourite way to start my answer is “well, I started with a degree in Geography…”

The short version of the story:

Through past roles, I have conducted thousands of presentations on various career topics, the labour market, and education pathways. I’ve supported post-secondary students one-on-one to pursue interesting and meaningful work.

I have helped parents understand how post-secondary pathways meet and twist, I have answered the relieved call of guidance counsellors who say “thank goodness you’re here, I don’t know anything about trades!” and I have been the hand that flips on the lights for lost souls unsure of how to transition from school to work.

If all that weren’t nerdy enough, the topic of my Master’s thesis was “Factors Affecting Post-secondary Pathway Choices in STEM.” (If you can’t find the PDF at your local academic library, you can borrow my hard copy. It was a heck of an undertaking, so it might be nice if more than five people actually read it.)

What can you expect when you work with me? A lot of self-deprecating humour and an open-minded and non-judgmental approach. My goal is to help you get to your goal as efficiently as possible.
